Job Description:

About the TCR Discovery Team

ARE YOU ADAPTIVE? Based in South San Francisco, Adaptive’s Discovery team is developing a world-class high-throughput TCR discovery platform. Our mission is to resolve the T cell repertoire by combining Adaptive’s core next generation TCR sequencing with cellular immunology assays to identify antigen-specific TCRs at an unprecedented scale. Our goal is to produce clinically useful TCR-based biomarkers and therapeutics, and ultimately to map the universe of antigens recognized by human T cells. #BeingAdaptive

Position Overview

Adaptive seeks an accomplished, creative and independent Scientist to join the Discovery team in South San Francisco. As a member of the team you will build and refine novel cellular and molecular assays to identify TCRs associated with human disease, or as potential therapies for cancer. With core Adaptive technologies such as ImmunoSEQ and pairSEQ at your disposal, you will identify antigen-specific human TCRs at a scale and throughput not possible before. Working closely with colleagues locally in South San Francisco as well as members of the R&D and Computational Biology teams in Seattle, you will assess these TCRs for their potential as biomarkers of human disease or utility in T cell based therapeutics. As our group continues to grow, you may also mentor and manage the work of Research Associates.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, execute and analyze immunology experiments (in collaboration with molecular and computational teams Seattle).
  • Develop novel approaches aimed at identifying and characterizing antigen-specific T cells.
  • Collaborate on a variety of projects and experiments with other scientists within the team, as well as cross-functionally within the organization.
  • Effectively prioritize and manage multiple projects and experiments of varying size and scope and allocate resources appropriately to meet deadlines.
  • Present research data in group meetings and external conferences.
  • Provide subject matter expertise for cutting edge T cell technologies and TCR sequencing by keeping up with current research.

Experience and Skills:

Required

  • Ph.D. degree in Immunology or related field
  • A deep understanding of conventional immunological techniques
  • Familiarity with multiparametric flow cytometry and cell sorting

Preferred

  • Strong preference for candidates with relevant postdoctoral experience
  • Experience in any of the following fields: cancer immunotherapy, tumor immunology, or cancer biology
  • Proficiency with diverse cell-based in vitro assays and cell culture
  • An understanding of T and/or B cell development
  • Experience with handling human tissue specimens (blood, etc.)
  • Experience with NGS datasets and statistics
  • Experience with computational/programming skills

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits package including employer paid medical, dental, vision, vacations and holidays for eligible positions.
