The Production Associate II position will be responsible for processing client samples using high throughput DNA sequencing technology. This role will work within a team of other Laboratory Scientists in a fast-paced, high production setting to process research samples for the pairSEQ assay to identify functional T-cell receptors.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform DNA/RNA extractions, PCR amplification and high-throughput sequencing assays on DNA libraries.
  • Perform QC and carry out routine tasks accurately and following strict methodologies.
  • Completes assignments of complex nature requiring a basic knowledge of techniques and practices related to the research area.
  • Supports business goals, knowledge and skills, and cross-functional teamwork.
  • Keep accurate and detailed records for all workflows.
  • Ability to work independently and carry out optimization and validation experiments.
  • Review and edit SOPs for accuracy and clarity.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment such as liquid handling robotics and DNA sequencers.
  • Enter and track data in a laboratory information database (LIMS - Genologics Clarity).
  • Ensure laboratory compliance with regulatory agencies (GxP, FDA).

Experience and Skills:

  • Education: BS degree in Biology. Degree includes 18 semester hours of biology courses relevant to medical sciences; 16 semester hours of chemistry (at least six of these in inorganic chemistry); 3 semester hours of mathematics; and 3 semester hours of physics
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of clinical Laboratory experience running high complexity molecular tests
  • Thorough understanding of PCR and DNA sequencing methods.
  • Specialized knowledge and skills: Experience in either a clinical, high-throughput or production environment is preferred. Working knowledge of laboratory terminology, equipment and supplies. Skill in RNA extraction and RT-PCR. Knowledge of cell culture (cell counting and cell plating). Experience working with human blood, tissues and/or cells as well as proper handling of biohazard material. Assists research scientists in designing and performing laboratory production experiments; demonstrates an understanding of basic experimental concepts, objectives, and concepts of experimental design. Ability to maintain organized, detailed records and produce accurate reports.
  • Other characteristics such as personal characteristics: Self-motivated and work independently, with minimal supervision, while also working as part of a team environment in a dynamic organization. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • This position will work at Tuesday - Saturday shift and requires the flexibility and willingness to work more than standard hours when necessary.

Working Conditions

Job involves working in a laboratory handling human biological specimens.

Physical Requirements

Individuals are required to sit or stand for much of the workday and perform data entry into computer systems.
