POSITION OVERVIEW

The Senior Director of Business Development (BD) is responsible for supporting and driving ongoing plus new business opportunities. The Senior Director of BD will contribute significantly to growing Adaptive’s engagements with biopharmaceutical and biotechnology partners. The focus of this role includes sourcing, securing, negotiating and closing deals with potential industry and institutional customers to leverage Adaptive’s technology platforms, capabilities and expertise.

The Senior Director of Business Development reports to the Vice President of Business Development.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Represent Adaptive externally, deliver scientific presentations to identify opportunities
  • Develop relationships with senior-level, biomarker R&D executives at key organizations
  • Secure Adaptive as a preferred partner and ‘go-to’ platform
  • Drive prospecting and acquisition of new pharmaceutical/biotechnology customers
  • Lead business development engagements and negotiations
  • Work cross-functionally to deliver transactions, execute and manage deal commitments
  • Contribute to new bookings and recognized revenue corporate goals
  • Support business development strategy and initiatives, including new offerings/products

Experience and Skills:

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS

  • Graduate degree required
  • PhD in immunology or cancer biology preferred
  • Minimum 10 years of experience working for a pharmaceutical/biotech company in business development, licensing or strategic analysis capacities, or experience working for a consulting firm with pharmaceutical/biotech industry experience
  • Demonstrated track record of closing transactions
  • Ability to function autonomously and drive strategic decisions while also executing deals from sourcing to deal close
  • Team player with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Experience working with internal/external multidisciplinary teams including R&D, Commercial, Legal, IP, Finance and Operations
  • Ability to work effectively with senior-level executives, internally and externally
  • Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, good judgment and ability to communicate with a diverse range of individuals
  • Excited about an early stage company environment and driven to make a difference

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Home office or remote-based position, with potential to move to Seattle; Travel requirements ³35%.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Excellent benefits package including employer paid medical, dental, vision, vacations and holidays for eligible positions.
